Job Description: Design, develop, modify, or evaluate mechanical parts, components, or systems related to Microsoft mixed reality devices. Balance complex projects related to mechanical product design in fast-paced product development cycles. Collaborate with cross functional teams to research, design, build, test, and validate rapid prototypes of mixed reality devices. Review proposals for technical feasibility and help identify risks and technical roadblocks. May conduct end-to-end development or validation of complex hardware systems. Candidate must understand technology, materials, and processes used in mechanical design and fabrication. Telecommuting permitted 50% or more per week within same area as assigned MSFT office location.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• EDUCATION: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or related field.
• EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of experience developing FE models and validating testing techniques for design improvements.
• SPECIFIC SKILLS: Must include 6 months of experience in: Python Thermostructural FEA; Material Modeling; Structural Model Calibration & Validation; Abaqus; and Hypermesh; and education or experience in: Experimental Design; Matlab.

Pay Range and Benefits Information: The offered base pay range for this specific position (Job Code: (TSMAA17761), in Mountain View, CA, is $143,700 to $173,700.

Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
